The Caribbean & African Community Health Support Forum (CACHSF) is a registered charity established in May 2010 to improve health and wellbeing among Caribbean and African communities in Ipswich, Suffolk and surrounding areas. It works to address health issues that disproportionately affect these communities by sharing culturally appropriate information, supporting access to health and social care, and connecting residents with practitioners and local organisations. Its activities also aim to reach vulnerable or isolated people and encourage community participation in identifying health needs.
CACHSF offers health awareness seminars and courses, including programmes on diabetes, dementia, cancer awareness and hypertension. Its ongoing activities include weekly exercise classes and healthy cooking courses, alongside projects and community events. The forum also supports health-focused groups and opportunities for men and women to discuss wellbeing, and provides information and training initiatives for community, statutory and voluntary organisations. Its projects have included men’s mental health and befriending work.
