CADS Edmonton

CADS Edmonton is the Edmonton Zone of Canadian Adaptive Snowsports, providing inclusive downhill skiing and snowboarding opportunities for people with disabilities. Its programs are supported by community volunteers and use adaptive techniques tailored to each participant’s needs. The organization fosters a welcoming community for athletes, instructors, and supporters, helping participants build skills and enjoy snowsports alongside family, peers, and school groups.

Weekly programs offer adaptive skiing, snowboarding, and sit-ski lessons on Monday evenings or Saturday mornings, with consistent instructors to support progress. CADS Edmonton also provides instructors for school field trips and clubs, helping students with disabilities access lessons and equipment on the hill. Advanced skiers can join Learn to Race, a twice-weekly competitive program featuring training, competitions, and camps, including opportunities suited to athletes with Paralympic goals.

Volunteers are central to delivering these programs. No prior adaptive-instruction experience is required; volunteers need confident skiing or snowboarding ability and receive free training and lift passes. Donations help fund equipment, training, and inclusive programs.
