Davide Begalli, a 40-year-old artisan from Verona, has been sentenced to five years and four months in prison for a tragic hit-and-run incident that took the life of 13-year-old Chris Obeng Abom. The incident, which occurred on a poorly lit road connecting Negrar to Verona, resulted in the young boy's death, prompting a conviction for vehicular homicide and failure to render aid. Begalli, initially under house arrest, was later jailed for violating imposed restrictions.

The community awaits justice as negotiations for compensation to the victim's family are ongoing. Despite Begalli's claims of not realizing he had struck the boy, evidence led to his identification and subsequent sentencing. This heartbreaking event underscores the importance of accountability and the devastating consequences of irresponsible actions on the road.
