CalEarth, also known as the California Institute of Earth Art and Architecture, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing shelter solutions through research, development, and education in earth architecture. Their mission is to empower individuals to build safe and sustainable homes using locally available resources. With a global housing shortage affecting millions of people, CalEarth's innovative designs address this pressing need.

Their self-help, environmentally sustainable building designs enable anyone to construct homes using earth, sandbags, and barbed wire, meeting modern safety, energy efficiency, and comfort standards. CalEarth's Superadobe building system, which integrates traditional earth architecture with contemporary safety requirements, has been recognized and endorsed by NASA, the United Nations, and awarded the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Their designs have also passed severe earthquake code tests in California.

Based in Hesperia, California, CalEarth offers on-site, international, and web-based educational programs, training hundreds of individuals each year. Their workshops have been conducted on five continents, with alumni spreading earth building techniques to over 40 countries. In addition, CalEarth's youth programs foster environmental respect and sustainability awareness.
