California Faculty Association (CFA) is a union representing 29,000 professors, lecturers, librarians, counselors, and coaches who provide their expertise and services to the California State University (CSU) system's 485,000 students. As integral members of the CSU community, CFA works tirelessly to educate students with critical-thinking skills, technical knowledge, and cultural insights to become thoughtful, productive, and artistic participants in society. CFA's mission is to ensure quality education for students while advocating for fairness for teachers, access to higher education, and policies that support the CSU's original purpose of providing opportunities for all seeking higher education.
By joining CFA, faculty members strengthen the union's ability to negotiate contracts with the CSU administration, uphold academic freedom, protect faculty rights, and promote faculty participation in the governance of both the CSU and CFA. Affiliated with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU Local 1983) and the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), CFA invites CSU faculty members to join their cause and protect and improve one of the largest university systems globally
