The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS) is a brand that aims to provide children in California with a jump start on saving for college or career training. CalKIDS offers children born in California on or after July 1, 2022, as well as eligible low-income public school students in grades 1-12, the opportunity to open a CalKIDS account. Participants receive a seed deposit in their account to help pay for future education after high school.

CalKIDS is administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, an agency of the State of California, and participants may also establish individual accounts with the ScholarShare College Savings Plan. CalKIDS strives to promote a college-going mindset in all California children and help families establish a positive pattern of saving while their children are young. Research shows that children with designated college savings are more likely to enroll and graduate from college.
