Callan Wrestling Academy

Callan Wrestling Academy is a Joliet, Illinois, wrestling club offering programs for girls and boys from preschool through high school. Its coaches focus on challenging and encouraging athletes while helping them develop their skills and confidence. Founded by Illinois Hall of Fame coach Ryan Cumbee, the academy’s IKWF program is led by KeVon Powell, a former Division I college wrestler with coaching experience. Cumbee and Ben Gerdes lead the Freestyle and Greco program. Callan describes itself as a supportive wrestling family where athletes and parents connect and enjoy the season together.

Programs include preseason training, IKWF wrestling, and spring Freestyle and Greco instruction. IKWF offers Black and Silver groups: Black is designed for experienced wrestlers seeking more demanding practices and tournaments, while Silver welcomes beginners and newer participants with supportive training and local competition. Freestyle and Greco training is available for wrestlers in seventh grade and up, with younger athletes invited to inquire.
