Calvana

ASSC Calvana (Associazione Salvaguardia e Sviluppo Calvana – APS) is a nonprofit association dedicated to protecting the biodiversity, wildlife and natural ecosystems of the Calvana area. Its work promotes sustainable development in harmony with nature, with a particular focus on the welfare of the area’s free-roaming, rewilded horses. The association also collaborates with universities on research supporting a balanced relationship between people and the environment.

ASSC Calvana invites the public to learn about the landscape through guided horse-watching experiences, including morning outings, sunset visits, private trips and family-friendly options. Participants can observe the horses and explore their role in the local ecosystem. The association also offers symbolic distance adoptions and considers physical adoptions for horses when applicants meet its requirements for experience, suitable facilities and long-term care.

People can support its work by volunteering, donating, sponsoring projects or purchasing the annual Calvana calendar. Contributions help fund horse care, veterinary needs, rescue and monitoring activities, and the maintenance and safety of the territory.
