Calvary Martial Arts Academy Inc. is a nonprofit organization created to address the need for community, mentorship, and personal growth. Guided by the values of honor, loyalty, and family, the academy offers a supportive environment for students and their families. Its training focuses on Hapkido, a Korean martial art that emphasizes self-defense and self-control, and the academy is a member of the Global Hapkido Association.
Classes meet on Thursdays at New Grace Apostolic Temple on Packard Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Young Lions classes serve students ages 5 to 14, while general classes are for ages 15 and older. Instructors teach practical self-defense techniques alongside principles intended to support students’ everyday lives.
The academy aims to help students recognize and develop their potential. Through training, participants can build confidence, self-esteem, spatial awareness, coordination, respect for others, and an appreciation for life. Calvary Martial Arts Academy also welcomes community support through partnerships, donations, and sponsorships.
