Camarão

Grupo Senzala, Mestre Camarão is a capoeira school offering classes for children, teenagers, adults, and parents with young children in Brøndby, Copenhagen Ø, and Gentofte. The school introduces capoeira as an Afro-Brazilian martial art and cultural practice that brings together combat, dance, play, music, and acrobatics. Training takes place in a roda, where two participants communicate through movement while others sing, clap, and play instruments.

Classes are designed for beginners as well as experienced participants, with activities adapted to each person’s level. Students develop physical fitness, balance, coordination, timing, and body awareness, while also practising concentration, creativity, communication, confidence, respect, and care for training partners. Instruction includes movement, martial arts techniques, acrobatics, singing, and traditional instruments such as the berimbau, pandeiro, atabaque, and agogô.

The school holds sessions at Park Allé Privatskole in Brøndby, Svanemøllehallen in Copenhagen, and Kildeskovshallen in Gentofte. Prospective students can book a trial class. Membership contributions are paid monthly, and members can attend classes across the school’s locations.
