CEPI is a non-partisan Cameroon-based think tank whose objective is to improve the quality of economic policies through fact-based research, debates, and advocacy to reduce poverty and improve the livelihoods of Cameroonians. Our vision is for a free and prosperous Cameroon driven by evidence-based and sustainable economic policies to benefit future generations. We want to popularize evidence-driven policy-making through research, debates, and programs to policymakers, students, and citizens in the working age group. As policymaking in Cameroon needs to be more inclusive and driven by public consultations, we plan to popularize policy-making based on facts by working and engaging with key stakeholders to make our ideas acceptable over time. Free-market ideologies are not popular in Cameroon, where the government employs over 60% of formal sector employees. CEPI is advocating and encouraging free-market ideas to support our vision of a free and prosperous Cameroon and support economic development. We will engage with civil society as we advocate for an inclusive approach to policymaking where we listen to diverse stakeholders. As they form our audience, it may be more expedient to encourage fact-based policies and free market ideas that can boost economic prosperity. As a research-based organization, we have to win civil society's and policymakers' support; popularizing our policies is the most effective way of making them acceptable and adopted by policymakers. While not all reform is good, a popularizer model will enable us to work with activists, experts, grassroots organizations, and civil society to achieve policy change.
