Camp Abilities Tucson is an inclusive overnight sports and educational camp for children and young adults aged seven and older who are blind, visually impaired, deafblind, or have multiple disabilities that include visual impairment. Working with Never A Loss of Vision, a 501(c)(3) organization, the camp promotes physical activity, health and wellness, independence, confidence, and self-esteem. Its program introduces athletes to sports and activities such as swimming, strength training, horseback riding, blind soccer, beep baseball, goalball, golf, and hiking.
Participants receive instruction in small groups, supported by high staff-to-athlete ratios and adaptations suited to their needs, including tactile modeling, auditory balls, and tactile boundaries. Camp Abilities Tucson also trains future teachers and therapists to support students with visual impairments, drawing coaches from fields such as physical education, occupational therapy, and vision services. The camp aims to create an adapted physical education environment where athletes can learn alongside peers with similar experiences.
It is funded primarily through grants and donations, and its next camp is scheduled for June 6–12, 2027
