Camp Awakening

Camp Awakening is a registered Canadian charity founded in 1982 that creates camp and leadership opportunities for children, teens and young adults with physical disabilities. By partnering with established summer camps, the organization connects campers with a wide range of activities in an inclusive setting. Its programs are designed to help participants build independence and confidence, develop new skills, form lasting friendships and discover what they can accomplish.

Camp Awakening offers several experiences for different ages and interests. Traditional Camp provides overnight summer sessions for children and teens, while Adult Camp is a week-long overnight experience for young adults. The M.I.L.E.S. program focuses on motivation, independence, leadership, empowerment and skills for teens, and the Leaders-in-Training program supports young adults through leadership and life-skills development. Other offerings include March Break activities, an Outdoor Club for the camp community and financial assistance. People can support the charity by donating, fundraising, partnering with the organization or volunteering.
