Campfire SMS is an SMS bridge that lets people communicate with AI agents through their regular text message inbox. Users can connect agents they already work with, including Grok Bot, Codex, Grok Build, Claude Code, OpenCode, and other compatible MCP or HTTP API hosts. They can text instructions, respond to agent questions, and receive updates about work such as lead follow-ups, build completions, and pull requests, without installing a phone app.
Setup begins with account creation and phone verification, which includes 40 free messages to try the service. Grok Bot can use hosted MCP and webhook features to start cloud routines while a user’s computer is off. Agents running locally require a computer that stays awake and online, along with the agent and connector. Campfire SMS offers setup guides, help, and information about supported integrations.
After the trial, customers can choose an $8 monthly plan with 500 messages, purchase one-time message packs, or use both. Purchased credits do not expire, and messaging pauses when available messages run out.
