Canaan Cares

Canaan Cares provides support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout California. Its mission is to help individuals live safely and happily at home while building confidence, independence, and purpose. The organization works with individuals and families to develop care plans tailored to personal needs, goals, and budgets, and offers complimentary consultations to help explain available services and benefits.

Services include guidance through California Regional Center eligibility and service planning, support for the Self-Determination Program, and children’s services such as case management support, therapies, behavioral strategies, and parent guidance. Adult services include Independent Living Skills training in areas such as cooking, money management, transportation, health, and community safety, as well as Supported Living Services for people living in their own homes. Day and community programs offer social, recreational, educational, employment, and volunteer activities. Respite care provides short-term support for individuals while caregivers take time for personal needs or appointments. Canaan Cares serves all 21 California Regional Centers and helps families understand how to get started.
