About Canadian Telecommunications Association
The Canadian Telecommunications Association (formerly known as CWTA) is dedicated to ensuring Canada's position as a global telecommunications leader. Working closely with stakeholders, government, and regulators, we aim to promote a healthy and sustainable telecommunications sector to support Canada's economic prosperity and social development. Our advocacy focuses on the importance of a facilities-based competition in delivering broad network coverage, high-quality services, and affordability to all Canadians.
Our work is centered around three pillars: promoting & advocating for the telecom sector, supporting consumer services & programs, and conducting research & education into telecom sector trends and developments. Our members include carriers, manufacturers, and companies in the telecom ecosystem that invest in, build, and maintain Canada’s world-class telecommunication networks.
Notably, Canada's telecom industry is a major contributor to the economy, supporting 650,000 Canadian jobs and making a $74.9 billion direct contribution to the GDP in 2021. Through our programs and initiatives, we strive to enhance accessibility, safety, and consumer protection.
