Canadensys is a pioneering network dedicated to making Canadian biodiversity information accessible to researchers, educators, and the general public. Operated by the Université de Montréal Biodiversity Centre, it aggregates and publishes a wealth of biodiversity occurrence data from various Canadian biological collections in a standardized open format known as Darwin Core. This extensive repository includes specimen data, species checklists, and ecological observations, many of which highlight species new to science.

Canadensys also features the Database of Canadian Vascular Plants (VASCAN), a searchable resource providing up-to-date scientific and common names of plants. By facilitating the publication of biodiversity data, Canadensys underpins critical analyses in geospatial and environmental models, informing sound biodiversity policies and enhancing our understanding of ecological dynamics.
