National Canadian Film Day

Established in 2014, this annual event unites Canadians across the country to honor the achievements and stories of Canadian filmmakers. On April 17 each year, CanFilmDay hosts screenings, encourages social media participation, and engages communities in a shared cinematic experience, connecting people through cultural storytelling.

In its recent 10th anniversary edition, CanFilmDay achieved remarkable success with 1,584 events worldwide, attracting over 2.5 million viewers. Organized by REEL CANADA, the initiative emphasizes the importance of film in fostering national unity and promoting the appreciation of Indigenous cultures and histories. The event not only showcases a wide collection of Canadian films but also encourages active reconciliation efforts with Indigenous communities.
