About Council of Canadians
The Council of Canadians is a grassroots organization dedicated to advocating for a more just society built on democracy, justice, and care for one another. Their mission is to bring people together through collective action and grassroots organizing to challenge corporate power and advocate for the rights of people, the planet, and our democracy. They believe in expanding and improving public services and social programs, ensuring access to clean water as a human right, and fighting against water privatization.
The Council of Canadians works to create a government that prioritizes the needs of its citizens rather than corporations or the wealthiest 1%. They aim to dismantle systems of oppression such as racism and colonization, and promote dignity and respect for all. Their approach involves bringing people together, taking collective action, and building grassroots community power.
They fight for a just recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing issues such as clean water, fair trade, public healthcare, climate justice, and democracy. They also challenge corporate power and protect the Commons – our shared ecological, social, and cultural resources – from privatization and abuse. The organization operates independently and is sustained by the generous donations of their supporters and members.
The Council of Canadians values justice, solidarity, independence, and democracy. They work in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples, migrants, racialized individuals, and those facing social, economic, and environmental injustices. They have an open membership structure and ensure that all members have a voice and vote in the organization.
They are accountable to the groups they work with and the frontline activists and communities they support. If you want to be part of a powerful voice for social, economic, and environmental change, join the Council of Canadians today
