About Cancer Action Coalition of Virginia
The Cancer Action Coalition of Virginia (CACV) has been making significant strides in reducing the burden of cancer since 1998. Partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (NCCCP), CACV plays a pivotal role in determining cancer control priorities, addressing disparities, and implementing cancer plans across the United States. CACV brings together a diverse group of dedicated individuals, community members, professionals, and cancer survivors who pool their expertise, resources, and ideas to tackle broad cancer control priorities and disparities.
Originally known as the Cancer Plan Advisory Committee, CACV was formed in 1998, with the guidance of the Virginia Department of Health, to develop Virginia's first cancer plan. Since then, they have consistently updated and improved the plan every five years. As an alliance of organizations and individuals, CACV provides essential statewide guidance, support, leadership, and coordination of cancer prevention and control activities in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Their mission is to reduce the burden of cancer for all Virginians by utilizing the Virginia Cancer Plan as a foundation for collaboration, education, and advocacy
