About C&S
The Institute for Citizens & Scholars (C&S) is dedicated to empowering young Americans to become impactful civic leaders. Founded in 1945, C&S has evolved significantly, originally supporting World War II veterans transitioning into academia. Today, it focuses on fostering talent and collaboration among students, educators, and community partners across the United States.
C&S operates through three main avenues: on college campuses, in workplaces, and within communities. By partnering with over 125 college presidents and various companies, C&S aims to reach more than one million students and develop thousands of young leaders. Its mission is to drive the creation of 20 million proactive civic problem-solvers by 2029.
Through innovative programs and resources, C&S equips young people with the tools they need to bridge societal divides and lead meaningful change. With a commitment to education and civil engagement, the organization strives to cultivate a more informed and connected generation, preparing them to tackle the challenges facing our country
