About CanFASD Research Network
CanFASD Research Network is Canada's first comprehensive national Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) research network. Collaborating with researchers, partners, and collaborators across the nation, CanFASD aims to address the complexities of FASD through interdisciplinary research. Their unique partnership brings together diverse scientific viewpoints to ensure that research knowledge is translated into community and policy action.
CanFASD's mission is to produce and maintain national research that is shared with all Canadians, leading to prevention strategies and improved support services for individuals affected by FASD. While they do not provide direct services, CanFASD connects researchers, graduate students, and practitioners from communities and institutions nationwide. They are actively involved in numerous FASD research projects supported by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and are leading major projects focused on prevention, intervention, and diagnostics.
CanFASD envisions a future where all Canadians are engaged and united in effectively addressing the complexities of FASD through awareness, evidence, and knowledge. They are committed to undertaking meaningful and applicable research, fostering partnerships, informing policy and practice, and building research capacity and knowledge across all communities
