About Canine Assistants
Canine Assistants is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating dogs and the people who need them, helping both improve one another’s lives. Guided by a philosophy of respect and kindness, the organization aims to make its partnerships between people and working dogs examples of compassionate relationships with animals.
Canine Assistants places service dogs with people who have mobility difficulties, Type 1 diabetes, epilepsy or seizure disorders, and other special needs. It also provides Community Service Dogs, which support therapy services for children and adults, primarily in children’s hospitals. Other offerings include a Disabilities Awareness Education Program, the K-9 Kids Reading Program for school-age children, and animal-assisted therapy services.
The organization does not charge recipients for its services and relies on community generosity to support its work. People can help through donations, volunteering, sponsorships, and other giving opportunities. Based in Milton, Georgia, Canine Assistants welcomes inquiries from those seeking more information about its programs and mission.
