Canine in Focus is a dog training business serving Rockford, Illinois, and the greater Rockford area. It describes itself as the area’s only certified in-home positive reinforcement dog trainer, offering personalized, humane training designed to strengthen communication and trust between dogs and their families. Its science-based approach uses rewards such as treats, toys, and play to build confidence and practical skills.

The business provides private training for puppies and adult dogs, with services including puppy training, basic skills and manners, behavior coaching, and help with challenges such as reactivity, fear, separation anxiety, crate and potty training, and leash skills. Training starts with a consultation to assess the dog, home environment, and family’s goals. Sessions are offered in the home, with virtual training available for clients outside the service area. When appropriate, training can extend to real-world settings, and adventure walks support confidence-building. Canine in Focus customizes plans for each household and provides ongoing guidance so families can continue practicing at home.
