CanKids KidsCan is an Indian nonprofit organization working to improve care and support for children with cancer and their families. Founded in 2004 by cancer survivor Poonam Bagai, it partners with hospitals, medical professionals and state governments to expand access to treatment and strengthen childhood cancer services. The organization works across 61 cities and 22 states, with a presence in 148 hospitals, and primarily supports families with limited resources.
Through its YANA (You Are Not Alone) programme, CanKids helps families access medical care, medicines and diagnostic services, accommodation at Home Away from Homes, transport, blood support, nutrition, education and counselling. Its wider programmes include patient navigation and family engagement, treatment support, pediatric palliative care, psycho-oncology, education and reintegration, public awareness, professional capacity building and cancer research. CanKids also operates care centres, including CanShalas, and coordinates state-level projects. As a knowledge and technical partner to 10 state governments, it supports early diagnosis, referrals, shared care, workforce development and stronger health systems, with the aim of improving continuity of treatment and survival for children.
