Canvas Inc. With a passion for both art and technology, founder Jami Peyton established Canvas in September 2007. Since then, the company has achieved remarkable milestones and expanded its capabilities.

In 2008, Canvas secured its first contract with the Missile Defense Agency’s Sensors directorate, focusing on software platforms for X-Band radars. The company quickly grew, leading to a move to Downtown Huntsville in Alabama, where they established their corporate office. Canvas continued to flourish, expanding its workforce, contract vehicles, and programmatic services.

With a commitment to nurturing talent, Canvas welcomed millennials to its team in 2013, offering a tuition reimbursement program that has proven highly beneficial to their workforce. By 2015, Canvas had gained an impressive reputation, boasting over 70 employees and more than 20 active contracts. In recognition of their success and dedication, they celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2017, which coincided with their relocation to the historic Huntsville Times building.

The following year, Canvas achieved significant recognition, winning both the Government Contracting Technology Company of the Year and Women-Owned Small Business of the Year awards. This dual accomplishment set them apart as a leader in their industry. In 2019, Canvas introduced Area 220, their Innovation Lab, and launched the employee-giving fund, Be The Good.
