The Civil Air Patrol Chaplain Corps supports the spiritual and character development needs of Civil Air Patrol members, while inviting qualified clergy and other religious professionals to serve. The program welcomes chaplains from faith groups with endorsers recognized by the Armed Forces Chaplains Board, currently including Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Buddhist traditions. Chaplains provide a ministry of presence at squadron meetings and other events, offer emotional and spiritual support, and may qualify to assist at emergency response operations and disaster sites.
They also lead monthly character forums for Civil Air Patrol cadets, using a facilitated learning model developed in coordination with the U. S. Air Force Academy to encourage ethical leadership.
For people whose education or credentials do not meet chaplaincy requirements, the corps offers another service path: Character Development Instructor. CDIs facilitate character forums, support chaplain teams during emergency services, and assist chaplains with related duties. The website explains eligibility, education and endorsement requirements, training resources, and how interested applicants can contact the corps to explore serving
