About Cape Town TV
Cape Town TV, also known as CTV, is a non-profit, community-based television station that serves the greater Cape Town metropolitan area. Since its foundation in 2006 by over 200 non-profit organizations, CTV has been dedicated to providing access to television as a powerful tool for promoting human rights, social justice, and community cultural development. They believe that access to information and the ability to communicate are fundamental rights in today's information age.
CTV plays a vital role in community cultural development by offering alternatives to the cultural values imposed by mainstream and commercially driven media. They ensure that all citizens, regardless of race, culture, physical ability, language, or gender, have access to information and communication channels to exercise their civic rights and responsibilities. CTV encourages a wide range of community perspectives and promotes healing, tolerance, and communication across all barriers.
In addition, CTV provides opportunities for volunteers, interns, and various organizations to produce programming and share political, cultural, artistic, and educational content. By partnering with video producers, NGOs, community organizations, educational institutions, sports groups, and government entities, CTV informs, entertains, and educates the diverse people of Cape Town
