About Capitol Area Council
Scouting America’s Capitol Area Council serves young people and families across 15 Central Texas counties, including Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, and Burnet. Established in 1912, the council supports Scouting programs for participants from kindergarten through age 20, welcoming boys and girls from all social, economic, and religious backgrounds. Its mission is to help youth make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives by teaching the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The council offers opportunities to join Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, Exploring, and Learning for Life. Activities and experiences include summer and winter camps, camping, aquatics, climbing, high adventure, shooting sports, STEM programs, conservation projects, service opportunities, and special events. It also provides youth safety and adult training, advancement resources, and support for units and volunteers.
Families can find a local unit, volunteer in roles suited to their interests, donate or make a planned gift, and shop for clothing, equipment, and other Scouting supplies at the Steve Matthews Scout Shop.
