Ecole Capoeira Antiga Auvergne

Capoeira Auvergne, also known as Ecole de Capoeira Antiga Auvergne, is a capoeira school and association based in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Led by Maître Ataare D’Costa, it introduces students to capoeira as both an Afro-Brazilian martial art and a cultural practice combining movement, music, and song. The school presents capoeira as an opportunity to develop body control, self-discipline, humility, creativity, and enjoyment through play. It welcomes participants of different ages and physical abilities, with motivation and patience encouraged over prior flexibility.

The school offers regular classes at Gymnase Jeanne d’Arc in Clermont-Ferrand. Friday sessions are dedicated to children aged six to twelve, while Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday classes are reserved for experienced students. Parents may join children’s classes free of charge. Registration is open throughout the year, with a free trial class, family discounts, and payment arrangements available. Capoeira Auvergne also promotes workshops, events, and educational activities, and shares information about capoeira’s history, music, instruments, and cultural roots. Its offerings include recordings, including the Geração Africana album series, and a boutique.
