Association Capoeira Malungos Saint-Étienne is a capoeira association serving Saint-Étienne and communities across the Loire region. Part of the Malungos group, founded in 2009 by friends from the Senzala capoeira group, it connects practitioners in Brazil and several European cities. The association’s name reflects friendship and shared journeys, values that inform its welcoming, community-focused approach.

Led by Mestre Pedigree, who moved to Saint-Étienne in 2006 to teach and promote capoeira, the association offers classes and workshops at cultural and community centres, youth venues, schools and sports facilities. Activities are available for children, teenagers and adults, with sessions for different ages and experience levels in Saint-Étienne and nearby towns, including Rive-de-Gier, Saint-Chamond and Unieux. A trial class is free.

Alongside capoeira instruction, the association promotes Brazilian percussion, bringing music and movement into its cultural activities. It also takes part in festivals and events, including Festival Malunguinhos 42, and shares information through its media and press channels.
