Capreolus Ecology

Capreolus Ecology Ltd is a South West England consultancy focused on woodland wildlife ecology, conservation and practical land management. Serving estates, landowners, conservation organisations and forestry managers, the company provides evidence-based advice and wildlife management to help address complex land-management challenges. Led by Simon Powne MRSB, its work aims to balance wildlife conservation, land use and biodiversity, with deer conservation and management at its core.

The company’s services include deer and grey squirrel management, habitat impact and population surveys, woodland maintenance, and the management of rides and open areas. It also supports biodiversity improvement, low-impact forestry and woodland management, tree felling and hedge laying. Capreolus Ecology can advise on grants and help clients understand compliance with regulations that protect wildlife species and habitats during woodland management and forestry operations. Its approach recognises that woodland species and habitats are interconnected, and seeks to strengthen the conservation value of woodlands and forestry through informed, practical decisions.
