Carbidboys

De Carbidboys is a Zevenhuizen-based group known for organizing traditional New Year’s Eve carbide shooting, a local spectacle that has marked the end of the year since 1992. Closely associated with the community for more than three decades, the organizers fire carbide from milk churns, creating powerful bangs that can be heard across the surrounding area. The tradition has been recognized as cultural heritage since 2014.

Each December 31, De Carbidboys stage their event in a field at Veldstreek 4 in Zevenhuizen, where around 100 secured milk churns are set up for the day. Visitors are welcomed by traffic marshals, with free car parking nearby and bicycle parking opposite the event site. The day combines the shooting with entertainment and a festive atmosphere. Its program includes the Carbidboysfeest, featuring live performers and a DJ, as well as Vroeg Feest in de Tent, with morning performances in the event tent. Through its annual gathering, De Carbidboys bring residents and visitors together to celebrate a distinctive regional tradition and see out the year.
