About Carbon Credit Quality Initiative
The Carbon Credit Quality Initiative (CCQI) is an independent and trustworthy source of information on the quality of carbon credits. Led by non-profit organizations including the Environmental Defense Fund, World Wildlife Fund (WWF-US), and Oeko-Institut, CCQI aims to enhance the quality of carbon credits and promote actual emission reductions, social benefits, and environmental sustainability. CCQI offers a user-friendly Scoring Tool that allows users to assess different types of carbon credits against seven quality objectives.
By entering project details and carbon crediting program information, users can easily understand how each credit scores. High-quality carbon credits are essential for achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement, and CCQI plays a crucial role in moving the market towards these standards. Buyers, traders, carbon crediting programs, and project developers can all benefit from CCQI's transparent scores and detailed assessments.
What sets CCQI apart is its science-driven approach, independent leadership, and unparalleled transparency. The assessments are conducted by experts with in-depth knowledge of carbon markets, and the methodology is publicly available for review. Additionally, all scores are free-of-charge, ensuring equal access to this valuable information.
Currently, CCQI provides scores for various project types across major carbon crediting programs, with a commitment to expanding its assessment coverage in the future. To explore the scores and learn more about carbon credit quality, visit CCQI's website and use their interactive Scoring Tool
