About CarbonCrop
CarbonCrop is a brand that utilizes artificial intelligence to accurately evaluate carbon sequestration and provide carbon offsets for native forests. Unlike the Emissions Trading Scheme, CarbonCrop recognizes the value of native forests and offers Native CarbonCrop Units as a way to offset carbon emissions. To determine eligibility for these units, individuals can apply for a free land assessment.
Each Native CarbonCrop Unit represents the removal of one tonne of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere within the past five years by a native forest. These units cannot be used to meet compliance obligations under the NZ ETS, but they come with a binding obligation for landholders to maintain the CO2 sequestered in the forest for the next 100 years. Glen Dene, a property owned by the Burdon family, has already seen the benefits of receiving Native CarbonCrop Units, as it has allowed them to generate new income streams alongside traditional farming.
CarbonCrop believes that better forests result in better offsets, and their approach aligns with the guidelines set by the New Zealand Ministry for the Environment
