Carbondale Bike Project

Carbondale Bike Project is a community bicycle shop and education initiative in Carbondale, Colorado. Its mission is to support individual, community, environmental, and global health through sustainable, safe, and educational cycling programs. The project offers open shop hours where community members can use workshop space and mechanical guidance to repair their own bicycles or build bikes from donated inventory. A suggested donation of $10 per hour helps support the service, but nobody is turned away for lack of funds.

The organization also collects and reuses bicycles, helping make bikes available to people who need them and encouraging healthy, lower-impact transportation. Its programs connect bicycle skills with self-reliance, problem-solving, learning, and community participation. Visitors can join open shop sessions on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, subject to posted project and cleanup times.

Supporters can contribute through donations, including the Kickstand Club, which helps fund bikes for people in need. The project also invites community support for its teaching, programs, and bicycle distribution.
