Cardboard is an AI-powered video editor available in a web browser and as a Mac app. It helps creators turn a written idea, existing footage, or both into an editable first cut, then refine and share the finished video. Users can direct edits with chat requests or work directly on a timeline, with tools to remove pauses, filler words, and retakes; find highlights in long recordings; add captions; and reframe footage for formats such as vertical video.

Cardboard also supports video and image generation, music and sound effects, motion graphics, voice cloning, narration, and web-based B-roll sourcing. Editors can use reference videos to guide pacing and color, collaborate through shareable links, gather feedback, and export MP4 files. The desktop app connects with Claude Code and Codex, allowing users to bring agents into video projects.
