Carefree Taijiquan offers traditional Chen style Taijiquan (Tai Chi), Qigong, and meditation instruction in the Carefree and Cave Creek, Arizona area, with private, group, and online lessons. Instructor Jason Simus, PhD, has taught Taiji and Qigong since 2015 and continues to train with Arizona Chen Taijiquan, the Arizona chapter of the Chen Xiaowang World Taijiquan Association.
Classes combine breathing and relaxation, standing meditation, fundamental movements, walking, balance, strength, coordination, and Silk Reeling exercises. Students also practice beginner-friendly Chen style forms, including the 9 Posture form and Harmony 13 form. Qigong sessions feature traditional practices such as the 8 Brocades and Muscle and Tendon Changing Classic, with gentle stretching and strength-building movements coordinated with deep breathing. Fang Song Gong relaxation practice is also offered.
Scheduled weekday classes take place at Desert Willow Park in Cave Creek and are streamed live on Zoom. Private instruction is available as well. New students can book a complimentary first class by contacting Jason by email or text for scheduling and Zoom details.
