About INTERREG CARIB-COAST
Interreg Carib Coast is an international project led by BRGM that aims to collaborate, develop, and disseminate approaches for monitoring, preventing coastal risks, and adapting to climate change. The project focuses on the Caribbean coastal regions, which face challenges such as coastal erosion and marine submersion due to extreme weather events and rising sea levels linked to climate change. The risks not only impact the safety of people and properties but also the tourism industry and the natural heritage of these biodiverse areas, including mangroves, coral reefs, and seagrass beds.
The project involves partnerships with both local and international organizations, including BRGM, IFREMER, ONF, IRD, CAR-SPAW, CNRS, and UWI, among others. Through its workstreams in hydrodynamics, coastal erosion, and decision-making tools, Interreg Carib Coast aims to create a Caribbean network for coastal risk prevention and climate change adaptation
