Its primary objective is to implement effective veterinary services that safeguard animal health, improve production, and minimize economic losses from trade and tourism. CaribVET focuses on several key areas, including epidemiological surveillance, disease control and eradication, pathogen identification, and emergency preparedness for priority diseases.

The network operates through nine working groups that facilitate regional projects and surveys based on identified needs, ensuring a coordinated response to veterinary public health challenges. Their comprehensive approach includes training workshops, e-learning opportunities, and the development of guidelines and protocols to support member countries.
