Caring for God's Acre

Caring for God’s Acre is a UK conservation charity dedicated to burial grounds, including churchyards and cemeteries. It works to protect wildlife, preserve heritage and involve local people, recognising these places as both records of community history and valuable habitats for native species. The charity supports communities and burial-ground managers with practical guidance, educational resources, events and volunteer opportunities. Its work includes projects focused on Welsh burial grounds, biodiversity, heritage and community engagement, as well as initiatives such as Love Your Burial Ground Week and Churches Count on Nature.

Visitors can explore guides, videos, activity packs and recording tools covering topics such as meadow management, wildflowers, ancient trees, monuments and wildlife surveys. The organisation also provides information on identifying and recording species, and helps people discover flowery burial grounds. Its online shop offers seeds, scythe kits and blades, and publications. People can support its work by volunteering, becoming members, donating, joining events or leaving a legacy.
