Caritas Deutschland

Caritasverband Gießen e. V. is a regional social welfare organization providing support and practical assistance to people and families in Gießen, the Wetterau and the Vogelsberg.

Its work spans child, youth and family services, care for older people, disability support and help for people facing difficult life circumstances. Services for children and families include childcare centres, family support, youth work, school social work and residential and community-based youth care. For older people and those who are ill, the organization offers home nursing, domestic assistance, hospice care, bereavement support, senior activities and residential and supported-living options.

It also provides housing and support for people with disabilities or mental health challenges, as well as counselling on family matters, pregnancy, migration, debt, addiction and general social concerns. Community projects and local meeting places further strengthen neighbourhood connections. Caritasverband Gießen also invites people to contribute through volunteering, membership and donations, and operates foundations and support associations
