About Carnamah
The Carnamah Historical Society & Museum is a community heritage organisation based in Carnamah, a town and farming community in Western Australia’s Mid West, about 300 kilometres north of Perth. Formed in 1983, the Society works to collect, record, preserve and promote local history. It operates the Carnamah Museum and has restored and cares for the historic Macpherson Homestead, while also making regional and state history accessible online.
Its website features an award-winning Virtual Museum, an extensive Biographical Dictionary, historic photographs and cemetery records. Visitors can explore information on Carnamah, Coorow and Three Springs, along with visitor information and Australian Curriculum resources. The Society also provides a growing collection of Western Australian indexes, covering topics such as motor vehicle registrations, state school teachers, livestock brands and 1800s directories.
The organisation recognises the Amangu and Badymia peoples as the traditional owners of Carnamah and pays respect to their Elders past and present.
