Carole Maher

Carole Maher is an Australian milliner based in Sydney, creating contemporary yet classically elegant couture headwear. Her bespoke hats and headpieces are individually designed and handmade for fashion, racewear, television, film, advertising, theatrical productions and ceremonial occasions. With a focus on quality, innovation and personal service, Carole designs headwear to complement each client’s face shape and appearance.

Known internationally for exploring new materials and techniques, Carole works with thermoplastics, metal, wood and paper cloth. She has developed methods and materials that have influenced millinery practice, including the use of thermo-formable materials to expand creative possibilities and improve durability. Her services also include restoring, conserving and renovating headwear for private vintage collections, museums and other public collections, drawing on experience dating back to her graduation and knowledge of vintage fabrics and materials.

Carole is also a dedicated millinery tutor, delivering workshops and masterclasses in Australia, the UK, Europe and the United States.
