Carolina Acuña

Carolina Acuña is an occupational therapist and provider of mentoring and supervision for occupational therapists who work with children and families. With more than ten years of experience across community, home, school, hospital and clinic settings, Carolina brings a broad perspective to professional guidance. Originally from Argentina, she moved to Australia in 2020 and also supports overseas-qualified occupational therapists navigating the Australian registration process.

Her services include one-off mentoring sessions, ongoing clinical supervision and small-group mentoring, tailored to each practitioner’s goals and pace. The work focuses on strengthening clinical reasoning, confidence and evidence-informed decision-making, with particular attention to children’s participation, developmental foundations and sensory processing. Carolina’s approach is client- and occupation-centred, drawing on occupational therapy theory and science to understand challenges and build on strengths. Areas of focus include Ayres Sensory Integration, child-led therapy, collaboration with caregivers, teachers and other professionals, and developing effective therapeutic processes and service structures. Carolina has postgraduate training in childhood therapeutics and is pursuing a PhD at the University of Queensland, exploring Ayres Sensory Integration in occupational-centred practice.
