Carol Tarn Portraits is the practice of London-based oil painter Carol Tarn, who specialises in portraiture and figurative art. Working from her North London studio, Carol creates commissioned portraits as well as paintings and drawings developed through her own projects. Her style has been described as painterly yet realistic, colourful and descriptive. Portraits may incorporate personal objects and references chosen by the sitter, creating a visual narrative that reflects the individual.
Carol’s theatrical portraits feature actors from the London stage in their dressing rooms, capturing the transition between actor and character. Her galleries also include drawings, the Vintage Days collection, and Flora and Fauna paintings. Selected works are available as limited-edition prints.
Alongside her artwork, Carol teaches portrait painting and offers classes at her studio. Her work has been exhibited with organisations including the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal West of England Academy, the ING Discerning Eye, the Society of Botanical Artists and the Society of Women Artists.
