The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is the region's leading public health agency, established in July 2011 through an Inter-Governmental Agreement signed by Caribbean Community Member States. CARPHA officially began operating in January 2013, bringing together the functions of five Caribbean Regional Health Institutes into a single agency. These institutes include the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute, the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre, the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute, the Caribbean Health Research Council, and the Caribbean Regional Drug Testing Laboratory.

CARPHA serves as the collective response to public health challenges in the Caribbean, addressing issues such as disaster emergency responses, the surveillance and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like obesity and diabetes, the prevention of communicable diseases, and the surveillance and prevention of injuries and job-related illnesses. CARPHA's objective is to promote the health and wellness of people in the Caribbean through strategic direction, prevention measures, and support during public health emergencies. Their mission is to build capacity, prevent disease, and promote health and wellness through leadership, partnership, and innovation in public health.
