About Carson Scholars Fund
Carson Scholars Fund is an organization dedicated to making a positive impact on education in the United States. They offer two main initiatives: The Carson Scholars Program and The Ben Carson Reading Project. Through their scholarship program, they award $1,000 college scholarships to students who have shown exceptional academic excellence and community service.
The Ben Carson Reading Project provides funding to schools to create inviting Ben Carson Reading Rooms, where children can experience the joy of independent leisure reading. The fund was founded in 1994 by esteemed Johns Hopkins Pediatric Neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin S.
Carson, M. D. They were motivated by the need to teach children the value of early academic excellence, believing it would lead to long-term educational success.
Since its inception, the fund has awarded over 11,000 scholarships and established more than 270 reading rooms across the United States. Their programs are financed through individual and corporate donations, with over 90% directly invested in educational initiatives. Overall, the Carson Scholars Fund is dedicated to discovering promise, rewarding excellence, and impacting children across the US through their scholarship and reading room programs
