Carter Kits is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops sensory bags to help comfort and focus children who are overwhelmed or affected by traumatic events. The organization grew from a 2019 initiative to equip police, fire, and EMS vehicles with tools to support children in crisis. Its team draws on experience in law enforcement, fire services, mental health, emergency care, and clinical settings to shape its resources. Carter Kits offers sensory bags for purchase, along with training tailored to the needs of different professions. It also provides information about partnerships, kit locations, and replacement items. More than 24,000 bags are reported to be in use across 44 U.S. states, three Canadian provinces, Bermuda, and the Bahamas.
