Casa das Penhas Douradas is a four-star mountain hotel in Manteigas, set 1,500 metres above sea level in Serra da Estrela Natural Park and the UNESCO Global Geopark. Created from the ruins of a former sanatorium, the hotel reflects the distinctive local mountain architecture and is designed to blend with its surroundings. Natural materials, including cork and birch wood, feature throughout, alongside details in burel wool.

The hotel offers rooms and suites, a restaurant, and a mountain spa focused on wellbeing, with treatments using oils made from herbs gathered in the Serra and other quality products.
